Re: The Apple Thread

I ordered the new Nike Apple Watch 4 at like 7 am....wont get for a month.

But at a $120 difference to the 3 (more difference from other vendors) Im going to read up.

Im on the original which is pretty useless. It wont run the Nike app any more. If I work out ( which I do most days) battery wont last 8 hours.

As for phone....I. happy with my X even tho Im on their upgrade program.

Re: The Apple Thread

It was actually out last night. I updated it around 6 pm yesterday. No issues yet.

Re: The Apple Thread

My phone got it today as well. Didn't update yesterday when I had it charging. I'm sure the new features are nice but I'm not paying much attention yet since my XS is going to be here soon.

Edit: Ooh, one thing easy to notice quickly is that they changed the shade of Green used for message bubbles for non-iMessage users. It's darker now. The blue for other iphone users looks a bit darker too but the green is noticeable.

How long did the update take you? I've been stuck on the "Downloading" screen for 25 minutes. I have the phone on wifi and wifi is OK.

Mine took about 30 minutes total. I'm doing the watchOS 5 now, and it's estimate shows 45 minutes just for the download part.

Mine took about 20 minutes in all. Download did fail once, but went through the second time.

Re: The Apple Thread

Thanks The Cow and E Unit. I don't know exactly how long it took because I went away for a while, but it was between 45 and 75 minutes. I didn't have to redo. It was the longest update I've ever done. Surprising because I always have the phone up to date for software.

Re: The Apple Thread

My watchOS failed the first time through, and I started it again. It took another 45 minutes to download, and it looks like it's going to take another hour to get it installed on the watch.

My 7 plus, 6s and iPad Air 2 went pretty fast. Watch is taking a while.

Re: The Apple Thread

Is iOS12 worth upgrading too? I'm still on 10.3.3 on my 6s due to all the battery issue hub-bub

Re: The Apple Thread

Updated my iPad Pro last night, seemed to go quickly, maybe 20 minutes total. So far, no major issues, but I haven’t run into any real improvements yet either. And I hate how all the swipes are different now.

Re: The Apple Thread

Wow. iOS 12 is a revelation in my book; I was considering an upgrade on my 6s, but after this, it feels like a new phone again: incredibly speedy and functional. If you skipped iOS 11 like I did, definitely give this a go.

I also have a 6s, which I updated from IOS11 to 12. I have not seen anything earthshaking. The notification redesign is nice. What did you see that was so much better?

Re: The Apple Thread

I have a 6 and everything does run much faster and smoother now. Just the response from apps and emails is much more smooth. Compared to the way my phone ran before, it’s a significant improvement.

The responsiveness of pretty much everything. Apps launch faster, close faster; I can switch between things more smoothly. I also got about 4GB of storage space back.

The only issue I had was the battery draining faster for around 12-15 hours, but I assumed that was due to everything reindexing after missing so many updates. My battery health is 84% and I'm still able to get a solid 6-7 hours of standard use (web browsing, a few apps here and there) before its dipping below 20%.

Re: The Apple Thread

Kinda bummed Group FaceTime wasn't included in this iOS12 release. But everything else works perfectly for my 7+ and 12.9" iPad Pro 2nd Gen.

Mine seems smoother, but if nobody pointed that out, I would not have noticed the difference, I don't do anything that's really pushing the phone though.

Re: The Apple Thread

Pretty excited for my Xs to arrive today.

Any other X users have any apps they'd recommend which are optimized for the full screen?
